Our Mission
To strengthen “Service to Humanity” by creating, mentoring and promoting socially-conscious and diverse community and nursing leaders and equitable and inclusive global partnerships.
2020 was a year of reckonings. Systemic racism, the negative impacts of climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic greatly changed our present and compels us to create a reimagined future.
We aim to achieve global prominence in leadership to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and social justice within our own organization and around the world. In pursuing its mission, the CEP Education Foundation is committed to excellence in its programs, activities, and communications. We will engage nurses and interdisciplinary teams including community leaders who will work in the U.S. and worldwide to eliminate the structural barriers of racism and empower historically underserved communities to greatness and equity.
Our Vision
A world where diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice undergird nursing, community, and health leadership.
We want to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and social justice into the DNA of the CEP Education Foundation.
We understand that diversity and inclusion focus on people and process while equity, belonging, and social justice are all about impact.
Our Values
Our core values include: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Social Justice.
Starting in 2020 – the Year of the Nurse – we committed to the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and social justice – with an emphasis on making Health Equity a reality here in the U.S. and across the globe. In a presentation at the American Academy of Nursing, Foundation President, Dr. Barbara Hatcher, invoked the words of Verna A. Myers: “Diversity is the invitation to the party and inclusion invites one to dance but equity, the commitment to provide all people with fair opportunities to attain their full potential, makes it sustainable.”
